Poorly Puppy

After a few days of living with us we realized Lola was poorly and she was getting more and more ill every day.  She began to be sick a lot and she didn't want to run around at all.  My mum and I took her to the vets and we were told that Lola had ParvoVirus.  This a very serious illness for dogs and especially puppies.

The vet told us that she might not live.  We decided to let the vet keep Lola at the vet hospital and Lola was put on a special drip to help make her better.  The vet told us that the first 3 days were the most dangerous for Lola. I felt sad at first but I knew the vet would make her better and I knew Lola wanted to get better so that could play with me.

My mum, dad and me went to visit Lola everyday so that she knew that we still loved her.  After the 2nd day she was a bit better and the vet was pleased with her.

On the 3rd day Lola came home and she all better and she wanted to run and play games again.  She had lots of hugs and fuss.

We had to give Lola special food for a few weeks and only 1 cup a day so that she would stay well and prevent her from getting poorly again.

Now she is completely better.

Naming Our Puppy

Coming back from the pound me, my mum and my dad tried to think of a name for the pup.  We all came up with lots of different names but none of them was right for her.  Eventually at home I decided to give her the name Lola.

A Visit To The Pound

Choosing a puppy from the pound is tricky because there are so many different dogs and puppies to choose from, so choosing just one is difficult.

On the day that I went to the pound with my mum and dad to choose my puppy there were little teeny tiny puppies that were really cute and I was thinking of choosing one of them.  Eventually I chose a different puppy which is a mix of a pointer, labrador and cocker spainiel (we think!).  I chose her because she was begging me to choose her and I could not say no.

We filled in the paperwork and brought her home.  She was very nervous to leave the pound and she pulled to try and go back.

Now we have our new puppy.  Follow my blog to learn what happens next...
